Congress passes a continuing resolution extending funding until December 21, 2018

WASHINGTON—Congress passed HJ Res 143, a continuing resolution to extend funding for the federal government agencies until December 21, 2018. The measure passed in the House on Thursday.

The resolution also extends a number of expiring authorizations such as the Violence Against Women Act and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs.

This continued funding resolution applies to the seven remaining appropriations bills that have not yet been passed by Congress including the appropriations bill for Interior, Environment and Related Agencies.

The Senate and the House have passed their version of the appropriations bill for Interior, Environment and Related Agencies. However, they have yet to agree on a final bill. President Trump is expected to sign the continuing resolution by tomorrow.
