WASHINGTON—On Oct. 1, the U.S Supreme Court declined to hear the mining industry's challenge to a 20-year ban on new uranium mining near the Grand Canyon. In 2012, under Barack Obama, the U.S. Department of the Interior issued the 20-year ban that protects a million acres of public land near the Grand Canyon. The ban was upheld by the Arizona Federal District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
